STRENGTH FOR BONES
We are running Strength for Bones group classes (45 minutes each) in our Flemington clinic gym space, designed specifically for individuals diagnosed with low bone density, such as osteopenia or osteoporosis.
Each class is limited to a maximum of four participants to ensure close supervision and support. The focus of this class is on progressive strength training—gradually increasing the weight you lift to stimulate bone growth and improve bone density. Our goal is to help you build up to lifting at least 70% of your one-repetition maximum (1RM).
WHAT IS 1RM
Your one-repetition maximum (1RM) is the heaviest amount of weight you can lift for a single repetition of a specific exercise. Training at 70% or more of your 1RM has been shown to be the most effective for stimulating bone formation.
These classes are also suitable for those with other conditions in addition to low bone density (e.g. osteoarthritis, or shoulder/back/neck pain).
All sessions are delivered and supervised by experienced Physiotherapists who will guide you through a structured, progressive program tailored to your current strength and bone health status. We use a variety of equipment, including barbells, dumbbells, machines, and bodyweight resistance exercises.
TO GET STARTED:
- New patients: Book an initial consultation with one of our Physiotherapists at the Flemington clinic.
- Existing patients: Speak with your Physiotherapist to develop a bone-specific strength program tailored to you.
Sessions are available at a variety of times throughout the week, including early morning, daytime, and evening slots.
